How I use it: I use this in the PM – I can’t use it in the AM because of the colour (tints my face a bit). Those with extremely pale skin may experience a temporary orange tint, so may want to only use Liquid Gold before bed.” – I put this here because I use this before bed due to the orange tint. It’s non-staining and vanishes on application for most skin types. Also Stratia state: ”The yellow colour is completely natural, caused by the bright red colour of sea buckthorn oil. Why use this product?: By replenishing that fatty mixture in your stratum corneum, you can address skin issues such as dryness and dehydration.ĭirections: Use this as you would any moisturiser – if you have dry skin then perhaps using this as your first moisturiser and then a second moisturiser on top. I think they mention dehydration because if your skin barrier is healthy and resilient, you should experience less water and moisture loss from the skin. When my skin was sensitised, I used this and didn’t get an irritated reaction. What I think: I think as long as one doesn’t live in hot and humid weather, this would be a nice PM moisturiser. Hence why if one’s skin is sensitised or feeling over-exfoliated, or if someone’s skin condition is poor, this is the type of product you could use in an extremely simplified routine to get your skin back up to scratch. Note: This product is all about keeping the skin’s barrier healthy and maintained, because if it isn’t – it can lead to all types of skin problems. Dry skins – I think may use this as a first moisturiser with another second moisturiser. Stratia says: ”Those with normal to oily skin may find Liquid Gold is moisturizing enough to be their only moisturizer, while drier skin types may want to follow it with a heavier cream.” – I totally agree with this statement!- I think oily skins would find this perfectly fine as their PM moisturiser (keep the routine relatively short as it might all feel too much with a buttery product like this sealing everything on top as well). Supposedly Good For: All skin types, especially dehydrated or over-exfoliated skin. Since portable SSDs don’t typically have any active cooling from fans, portable SSD design for passive cooling is critical. In environments that are on the higher end of this tested temperature range, it is normal for the drive’s temperature to increase close to the edge of its internal operating limits. ![]() ![]() Portable SSDs are tested to operate within acceptable ambient temperature ranges (commonly 0º C – 25º C). When this happens, users quickly understand that actual sustained performance strays quickly from the stats promoted on a drive’s datasheet. As a result of the heat, performance will drastically drop as the drives throttle themselves in an act of self-preservation. These drives can get extremely hot when transferring data for extended periods of time. There is another critical concern among users that have a performance need. However, the cost is not a real problem here. Due to the falling rates of SSD prices, you can get a fast external drive with a lot of storage capacity for less than you might expect. Furthermore, if editing multicam footage, 8K video, higher quality codecs, or gaming is required, read/write speeds greater than 1GB/s is recommended.Īs you might presume at this point, it can get tricky to find a drive that meets the performance requirements of professional applications. Thanks to these impressive performance profiles, high-performance SSDs are ideal for photographers, videographers, and heavy-duty users who constantly take images or 4K video content and need extra space to offload the data. Confusing name aside, this interface adds a second lane, more or less doubling theoretical performance. That’s thanks to USB 3.2 Gen2x2 interface data rate. Meanwhile, the Extreme Pro model ( SanDisk Product Page) is able to hit 2,000MB/s transfer rates for both read and write. The Extreme Portable SSD now reaches read speeds of 1.05GB/s and write speeds of 1GB/s over a universal USB-C port. SanDisk upgraded the Extreme and Extreme Pro Portable SSDs by doubling the data transfer speeds over the last-generation models. But there are mainstream offerings as well, we recently reviewed SanDisk’s latest offerings. On paper, the performance of these devices is thrilling, with brands quoting impressive numbers of up to 2.8GB/s for Thunderbolt SSDs like the Samsung X5. ![]() They are the right option for those looking for a versatile solution, particularly a more universal USB-C drive that doesn’t compromise storage capacity or high speed. They are faster, more durable, and smaller than portable hard disk drives (HDDs) because they have no moving parts. ![]() Portable SSD drives are designed for both home use and when on the go. So we set out to punish the current set of portable SSDs from popular brands to see just how well they hold up under severe stress. The problem, though, when deciding on a drive in this class is that vendors only show burst performance on the datasheet. It’s common to see a portable SSD strapped to the side of a digital camera on a set or perpetually helping a scientist crunch data in real-time in the field. At the same time, we’ve seen the workloads for portable SSDs become more intensive. Over that span, we’ve seen the market transition from hard drives to flash. We’ve been reviewing portable drives for almost a decade now. ![]() ![]() Just to keep you confused, I have never heard owners of either CV or Oneida be unhappy or identify a major flaw. Nothing against them, but there are so many ways to tell the truth, but tell a different story it is hard to compare on paper. I kind of doubt the 5 HP CV is not as strong as the 3 HP Oneida. I have not seen how Harvey deals with these issues, but they claim lower noise. How you duct corners, junctions, gates and basically everything in the flow is implemented. CV is not the best in how their plastic is overlapped. ( not seen one on a DC) Good attention to every edge and transition. Things like carefully spaced notches on the impellor so the trailing edge vortices harmonics to not complement. You can muffle by restriction or by absorption. Mufflers, regardless of technology and all the ads for magic hot rod mufflers, reduce the efficiency. There ate two ways to make the system quieter. Mine sits in a corner with hard walls all around. Now, as I know a bit about acoustics ( built high end loudspeakers for many years) I do intent to attack the noise level. A rating can play games depending on the weighting scale.
